A construction worker was seriously injured on the Bayonne Bridge on Tuesday afternoon, officials said.
The 49-year-old man suffered severe leg trauma while working on the lower level of the bridge just after 1 p.m., Port Authority spokesman Joseph Pentangelo said.
The injured man was in shock but remained conscious, officials said.
He was taken to Richmond University Medical Center in serious condition.
OSHA will investigate to determine exactly what happened.
Traffic was temporarily suspended in both directions after the incident.
