Fire personnel rescued two construction workers who became trapped 10 feet deep in a trench in the Bronx late Monday afternoon, officials said.
The pair of workers had become stuck at Fish Avenue and Hicks Street in Williamsbridge — near P.S. 78 — around 5 p.m., according to a fire department spokesman.
Rescuers lowered a “Stokes basket,” a kind of stretcher, into the hole and pulled out the workers, the spokesman said.
They were transported to Jacobi Hospital for minor, non-life-threatening injuries.
It was not clear Monday night how the workers ended up getting trapped.
