After decades of false starts, ground was finally broken yesterday on a new $750 million Police Academy in Queens.

“This is indeed an historic moment,” said Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, adding that the facility — on a 30-acre site in College Point — would be the most advanced “anywhere” when it is completed in several years.
