Westchester authorities say this caught-on-camera incident is nothing but a snow job.
A 30-second online video reportedly shows a New Rochelle cop pointing his pistol at two teens for having a snowball fight, much like an infamous Bronx confrontation involving an off-duty NYPD officer in 2010.
But Westchester officials said Sunday that the New Rochelle cop was actually responding to a 911 call about a gun-wielding teen and that claims regarding a snowball fight were “fiction.”
The video — posted on YouTube with the title “Police Draw Guns after responding to reports of Snowball Fight in New Rochelle, NY” — shows Sgt. Joseph Salerno with his gun drawn as he approaches a young male kneeling in the street with his hands in the air.
“Don’t f–king move, guys,” Salerno warns.
The cop is then seen frisking the male and — after a cut in the video — checking another teen kneeling on the sidewalk.
A woman is heard saying, “This group of guys was having a snowball fight, and now the cop has a gun on them.”
That claim echoed an incident in which an off-duty NYPD cop pulled a gun on a group of Bronx teens after one threw a snowball at him — leading to a settlement in which the five kids each scored $60,000 from the city.
The blurry New Rochelle video was first reported by “Talk of the Sound” blogger Robert Cox, whom cops busted in October for allegedly bashing a BMW with a baseball bat.
New Rochelle Police Deputy Commissioner Anthony Murphy said Salerno and another cop, Matt Glass, were responding to a 911 call about a group of teens — including one who pointed a gun at another — and there was no snowball fight before the officers checked out the two men.
“I think the [woman’s] comment about the snowball fight was edited in later on,” he said.
