A cop shot a gun-wielding man in the elbow in the Bronx Monday evening, authorities said.
The officer opened fire on the 19-year-old man near East 145th Street and College Avenue in Mott Haven just before 6 p.m., police said.
Authorities said the man was holding a gun, but it was not immediately clear if he aimed it at the cops.
“I must have heard almost ten shots,” said neighbor Katherine Rivera. “These kids are crazy out here. It was like a shootout.”
The man, whose identity was not released, was taken to an area hospital in stable condition, officials said.
There were no reported injuries to police in the incident.
