A police officer shot a suspect on a Bronx subway platform early Wednesday morning — the city’s second police-involved shooting in a matter of hours, authorities said.

The officer approached the man on the No. 5 train platform at White Plains Road and 225th Street at about 12:20 a.m., cops said.

The man was holding an object cops believed to be a handgun — and the responding officer fired at him, hitting him in the shoulder, police said.

The suspect was rushed to a nearby hospital and is expected to recover, authorities said.

The officer was also taken to a hospital for evaluation, but was not injured in the shooting.

The incident was the second police-involved shooting in less than five hours in the city.

At about 8 p.m. in Brooklyn, two plainclothes officers shot a gun-wielding suspect after seeing him open fire at rival on a street near a Gowanus housing project.

The suspect was shot several times, but was expected to recover.
