An off-duty NYPD sergeant shot a thug who tried to make off with his motorcycle in Brooklyn early this morning, police said.

A pair of thieves allegedly slipped through a fence and tried to swipe a Suzuki outside the sergeant’s home on Tapscott Street near Blake Avenue in Brownsville around 2:30 a.m., police said.

The sergeant woke up when he heard the commotion and confronted them. The officer allegedly shot the thief once in the torso, however, his accomplice managed to escape, police said.

It is unclear how many shots were fired, cops said. The suspect is currently at Brookdale Hospital in stable condition where police are questioning him.
