Cop ‘sodomy cover-up’ tix
Three cops on trial for their roles in the alleged sodomy by police baton of a fleeing perpetrator let him off with a summons despite the fact that he was a wanted man, an investigator testified yesterday.
Sgt. Steven Alfano told jurors that a computer check on Michael Mineo would have brought up an outstanding warrant — ample reason to take him into custody.
Prosecutors claim the cops feared that booking Mineo would expose the alleged assault.
Lawyers for the men suggested the officers were simply mistaken about Mineo’s warrant status.
