Mayor Bloomberg yesterday vetoed two new oversight measures for the NYPD, setting up an override showdown with city lawmakers.

The moves would create an outside watchdog for the department and a broader path for lawsuits claiming discriminatory policing.

The mayor and NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly argued vehemently that the laws would undermine public safety.
