Aaron Baker came up behind a 27-year-old woman on East 33rd Street near Madison Avenue around 7 a.m. June 6 and attacked her, police said.
Baker allegedly grabbed her by the throat, pinned her against a storefront and pulled down his pants, according to police.
The woman was able to break free, and Baker took off, cops said.
The man, who had been staying in a shelter down the block, was arrested Tuesday morning and charged with attempted rape, sex abuse and attempted sex abuse, Chief James Essig said Wednesday during a press conference.
