Cops busted Oscar-winning rap star DJ Paul for allegedly carrying a Taser in his pocket and an open container of beer in his hand, authorities said today.
The Three 6 Mafia member, born Paul Beauregard, was initially being questioned over an open can of Corona beer, yesterday at about 8:12 p.m. in front of 498 Ninth Avenue in Manhattan, police said.
Arresting officers eventually found that DJ Paul was carrying a Taser and he was arrested for both the booze and weapons possession charges, cops said.
Both offenses are misdemeanors.
“I use it [the Taser] for personal protection,“ DJ Paul told cops, according to criminal complaint filed by the Manhattan DA.
Three 6 Mafia took home Best Original Song for “It’s Hard Out Here For A Pimp” from “Hustle & Flow.” “Pimp” was penned by Juicy J and DJ Paul.
Beauregard, 37, carried ID as a Las Vegas resident.
He was arraigned today and released without bail.
Coincidentally, “Hustle & Flow” actress Taryn Manning was arrested in New York last week for allegedly roughing up her personal assistant.
