Three NYPD cops who were driving to a K9 funeral stopped to rescue a woman from an overturned ambulette on a Pennsylvania highway on Thursday, officials said.
The three officers rescued the elderly woman from the overturned ambulette.Fox 8 NewsNYPD officers Benny Colecchia, Daniel Rich and Matt Wicelinski were driving westbound on I-80 around 8 a.m. when they spotted the crashed emergency vehicle about 64 miles from the Ohio border, cops said.
An elderly woman was trapped in her wheelchair in the back of the ambulette when the three brave cops rushed across the ice to free her, police said.
The officers cut the woman out of her wheelchair and helped first responders to load her onto a stretcher, cops said.
“I was just glad to do what we do every day,” said Officer Benny Colecchia.
The officers, who were accompanied by their K9 partners Timoshenko, Hudson, and Dallas, continued driving to Canton, Ohio to pay respects to K9 Officer Jethro, who was shot in the line of duty on Jan 9., cops said.
