Police on Wednesday released photos of the man they say

tried to rape a jogger in a Bronx park earlier this week

A 35-year-old woman was running in Bronx River Forest just before 8 a.m. Monday when a man came up behind her, placed his mouth over her mouth and tried to drag her backward, cops said.

The victim fought off her attacker and escaped but was able to take pictures of him as she exited the park. She was later treated for minor injuries, officials said.

The assailant is described as approximately 17 to 25 years old with a slim build, last seen wearing a white hooded sweatshirt underneath a black T-shirt, black shorts and white sneakers.
