Lisa Marie VelasquezFacebookThe identity of a woman who was beaten to death and had her remains wrapped in plastic bags and dumped at two Bronx parks was released by police on Wednesday.
Lisa Marie Velasquez, 25, of Melrose, died from “multiple blunt injuries” to the head before pieces of her corpse were found dumped at Crotona Park last week and then on Tuesday on a pier in Hunts Point, according to police and the city medical examiner.
Velasquez was reported missing Tuesday by an aunt, who told police she’d last seen her niece on August 22nd — when she said someone called the young woman asking for help, police said.
Velasquez left her apartment to help the unidentified caller and never returned.
Later, a bag with a foot sticking out from it was discovered at Tiffany Street Pier in Hunts Point around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, police sources said.
A young boy who made the discovery told his horrified mom who called 911.
On Friday, park workers found what appeared to be
about two miles north.
Police confirmed that the remains in both cases belong to Velasquez.
The City Medical Examiner determined Wednesday that Velasquez was murdered, and had suffered “multiple blunt impact injuries of [the] head with skull fractures.”
