The twisted attacker arrested for an unprovoked stabbing outside a pub near Madison Square Garden is a transit recidivist with a lengthy rap sheet, police sources said.

The suspect, David Helles, 36, has 43 prior arrests with multiple fare beating collars, the sources said. His most recent arrest came in 2020 for marijuana sales, the sources said.  

Helles is accused of stabbing a 25-year-old man in the neck after Friday night’s Rangers game as the victim sat in the outdoor seating area of Féile, an Irish pub at 131 West 33rd Street about a block away from the Garden, cops said.

The 25-year-old victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Cops canvassed with a description and found Helles at West 33rd St and Broadway and he was taken into custody. Police sources said Helles is homeless and his last known address was in the Bronx.

He was charged with two counts of assault, reckless endangerment, weapons possession and harassment. His arraignment is pending.
