Westchester cops killed a coyote that was attacking people – including an NYPD detective, police said.

The coyote tried to bite Det. Michael McReady at 8 a.m. Wednesday, police sources said. He fired on the animal, which hightailed it into the woods.

The state will test to confirm if the coyote had rabies in case it bit other animals in the area.

Ossining police confirmed on Twitter that they killed the animal.

“The coyote has been located and is now deceased. It’s still a good idea to use caution when walking pets near wooded areas,” Chief Kevin Sylvester Tweeted at about 9 a.m.

Police had issued a warning Wednesday about a coyote that was attacking people and pets.
