Police have arrested the man who allegedly stole a giant tortoise from a Queens sanctuary last month, police said.

Shawn Waters, 36, was busted Tuesday and charged with stealing the massive 100-pound African spurred tortoise name Millennium from the Alley Pond Environmental Center in Little Neck on July 17.

Police received a break in the case when they got a phone call from a man in Connecticut on July 24 who said he had unwittingly purchased the stolen tortoise from Waters after arranging to meet.

The two met at the Metro-North train station in Fairfield where Waters traded Millennium for $300 and a musk turtle.

But after hearing about the stolen tortoise back in the city, the buyer realized he had a hot shell and called the NYPD.

Millennium, who is 17-years-old, was returned to Alley Pond Environmental Center, where he is a popular attraction.

Waters, who lives in Queens, has been charged with grand larceny and possession of stolen property, officials said.
