Burglaries are up in Canarsie — but residents don’t seem to want to do anything about it.
The neighborhood’s top cop says his auxiliary officers hit area streets that have been burglarized, offering to arrange for a full-time officer to come over and share safety tips. But few people take them up on the offer.
“Unfortunately, we don’t get a lot of responses,” Capt. Milt Marmara, the precinct’s commanding officer, told us the other day.
The quasi-cops show up armed with fliers explaining the precinct’s free crime survey, which detail how residents can get the full assessment of how to better secure their apartment or home.
Residents interested in having a survey done can call Officer Dominic Daniele at (718) 257-6205.
