The robber who threatened to burn two women with acid at an Upper East Side bank’s ATM this month can be seen on surveillance video carrying a bottle that appears to contain a liquid, the footage released by cops shows.
“Don’t scream or I’ll throw acid in your face!” the robber shouted during a stick-up Monday, according to cops. “Get me $1,000 or I’ll throw acid on you!”
The mugger can be seen walking into the Citibank at 1266 First Ave. with his hood pulled down over his forehead and sunglasses on. He has a bag in his hand and turns his back on the surveillance camera. When he turns to face the camera again, he appears to have a bottle in his hand.
The most recent stick-up happened in broad daylight when the man approached his 36-year-old victim from behind and made the threats. He fled after she turned over $500.
Another woman was robbed at the same bank around 5:30 p.m. May 12, cops said.
In that case, a man entered the enclosure where the ATM is located and approached a 22-year-old victim from behind. He told her he would throw acid at her if she didn’t withdraw money for him.
He was also holding a plastic bottle containing an unknown substance, cops said. He took off after the victim handed over $1,000.
