Police on Tuesday night fatally shot a gun-wielding suspect accused of shooting another man at a Brooklyn housing complex, police said.

The first officers to arrive at the Kingsborough Houses in Crown Heights at about 9:30 p.m. encountered a man who was shot and were told by residents that the suspect was nearby, according to police.

Cops found the armed suspect hiding behind a tree a block away on Bergen Street.

From there, “the officers gave orders for the male to drop the weapon for over a minute,” but the suspect refused, Chief of Department Terence Monahan told reporters at a press briefing.

About 10 uniformed officers then opened fire, Monahan said.

It’s unclear how many times the suspect was hit, but he was declared dead at a nearby hospital.

Monahan said the police-involved shooting was captured by police body cameras — on which officers and residents alike could be heard pleading with the suspect to drop his gun.

The shooting was also captured by witnesses and posted to their Facebook accounts, the top chief said.

The man shot by the suspect was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition, police said.

Monahan specified that “this incident is not related to ongoing protests.”

A nearby resident, who identified himself only as Champ, said he saw police helping a man who was shot in the leg when gunfire rang out.

“Then I got the hell out of Dodge,” he said.

Champ also said the shooting “was totally isolated” and there were no protests in the area leading up to it.

A handgun was recovered at the scene, police said.
