Cops out hunting for businesses flouting the public assembly ban found that two-thirds of the restaurants they surveyed are shuttered altogether, police said Wednesday as they announced they’d only found two bad apples in all of Gotham.
In total, the NYPD visited 6,343 locations and discovered that 4,015 of them had completely closed up shop, according to NYPD spokeswoman Sgt. Jessica McRorie.
Out of the 2,328 that remained open, only two had smuggled in customers.
A hookah lounge in Sunset Park was caught hosting 15 people when officers approached their doors Tuesday, according to the NYPD.
The management refused to shut down and was slapped with a summons.
Getty ImagesCops also nabbed a juice bar in Elmhurst hosting 10 customers –– despite multiple warnings to cut the straws on their customers.
They were also given a summons for the violation.
“New Yorkers are taking the crisis in stride, adjusting to the new normal. We are finding virtually complete compliance. It’s a great city,” McRorie said.
Getty ImagesOwners can be fined or even cuffed for defying the ban.
Officials would not name the businesses.
