Mayor Bill de Blasio and his wife, Chirlane McCray, have not been tested for coronavirus, he said Thursday.

“We have none of the characteristics,” he said on 1010 WINS.

“No symptoms, no contact with people who have traveled to affected areas, no travel ourselves, and no contact with anyone who has coronavirus, at least that we know of, obviously,” de Blasio said.

“We are exactly the kind of people who should not be tested yet,” he said.

The mayor said tests should be prioritized “where the need is greatest.”

That includes people with symptoms like a fever and dry cough who have tested negative for other types of viruses, he said.

De Blasio also called on the Food and Drug Administration to approve automated testing that would boost the city’s testing capacity from hundreds per day to thousands.
