A Manhattan drug store was slapped with heavy fines for price gouging in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic — for charging customers as much as $200 for a pack of 20 masks.

The city’s Department of Consumer and Workers Protection is seeking $37,500 in fines from Metro Pharmacy, located at 931 Lexington Ave..

According to a release from Mayor Bill de Blasio’s office, the Upper East Side shop has been the subject of 23 complaints and has been hit with 75 violations over price gouging.

The DCWP conducted two in-person inspections at the pharmacy and found that face masks — which normally sell for less than $1 — were being hawked at “drastically” marked-up prices.

Under a rule that the department put into effect on March 16, vendors cannot increase prices for goods that can protect consumers during the COVID-19 pandemic — like hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes — by more than 10 percent for a two-month period.

“To the business community, if you incurred additional costs to supply these items, we will take that into account,” DCWP Commissioner Lorelei Salas said in the release.

“But what we cannot tolerate is businesses that are knowingly preying on vulnerable consumers for a profit. Do the right thing. Don’t overcharge.”

The department reports that since March 5 it has issued more than 1,000 violations against businesses for price gouging. Cases against the pharmacy and other businesses accused of violations will go before the city’s Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings.

Earlier this month, DCWP cracked down on an Ace Hardware franchise in the Garment District for selling 10-packs of 3M respirator masks for $60 — while Home Depot sells the same product for $22.97.

The same store attracted the ire of officials after The Post revealed that it is selling Purell at $80 for a 1,200-milliliter bottle.

A rep for Metro Pharmacy did not return a request for comment.
