A hospital worker in upstate New York has been accused of stealing a box of face masks and alcohol prep pads from the facility amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Josie Wright, 33, allegedly swiped the personal protective equipment from Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown and shipped the items to another person, Otsego County Sheriff’s deputies said Monday.
Investigators are continuing to look into allegations that other staffers also took personal protective equipment from the medical center, local outlets reported.
Wright, of Morris, was charged with petit larceny and is due to appear in Town of Otsego Court on May 20.
Her arrest came amid a shortage of personal protective equipment at hospitals across the country, especially in virus hot spots like New York.
