The Cortlandt Street R subway station — heavily damaged on 9/11 — was opened in its entirety yesterday for the first time in six years, marking an important milestone in the rebuilding of lower Manhattan, officials said.
“We made a commitment to have this platform open before the 10th anniversary of 9/11, and today, we are here to fulfill that commitment,” said MTA Chairman Jay Walder.
