Even now, a full decade later, Mayor Bloomberg feels the choice of design for the tree-lined, 8-acre 9/11 Memorial Plaza was rushed.
“I always thought we did it a little bit wrong,” Bloomberg, who chairs the memorial foundation, said yesterday. “Hopefully, this memorial will still . . . give a message 100 years from now.”
Placing the memorial on site required quick decision making, explained foundation President Joe Daniels, and it’s always “important to stitch back together the actual, physical real estate.”
