The bagels are flying in the special election today to replace disgraced ex-state Sen. Carl Kruger.
The contest in South Brooklyn pits Republican David Storobin against veteran Democratic Councilman Lew Fidler. Both candidates are trying to woo politically conservative Jewish voters.
Storobin, a Russian native and lawyer, has fliers slamming Fidler for once referring to himself as a “bacon-and-eggs kind of Jew.”
“Fidler tried to set himself apart from the Orthodox Jewish community and conservative Jews. He can’t have it both ways. It’s about him being a hypocrite,” said Storobin spokesman David Simpson.
