At least one city councilman is open to supporting the anticipated candidacy of Harold Ford for Senate over incumbent Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), saying he doesn’t know much about either of them.

“I am open to it,” Lew Fidler (D-Brooklyn) said of backing Ford, a former Tennessee congressman who exploded on the political scene in recent weeks as a potential serious challenger to Gillibrand.

“Neither candidate has reached out to me in any meaningful way, and I am just not sure who either one of them is,” he said.

“I havent heard from the Gillibrand folks since the Inner Circle dinner last year when they thought having her come to Southern Brooklyn so that I could host her introduction to our community was a swimmingly good idea. Never heard from them again,” Fidler added.

The discussed meeting never took place.

The Post reported today that Brooklyn Democratic Chairman and Assemblyman Vito Lopez agreed to meet with Ford in a Williamsburg restaurant Friday and is considering endorsing him.
