A Manhattan federal appeals court has agreed that Connecticut school officials acted reasonably and constitutionally when they disciplined a high-school student for an Internet posting she wrote off school grounds.
The court sided with Burlington, Conn., school officials, who punished Avery Doninger by preventing her from serving as class secretary after she criticized administrators in 2007 for canceling a popular school activity.
