A Bronx teen socked an off-duty court officer in the face — breaking his jaw — after he tried to stop the punk from entering a subway station without paying, police sources said Wednesday.
The Bronx Supreme Court officer had just entered the 161st Street-Yankee Stadium station when he saw George Yates, 16, breeze through the emergency gate at about 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, the sources said.
After the officer identified himself and told the boy he had to cough up the $2.75, the teen allegedly punched him repeatedly in the face.
But the officer put up a fight, pepper-spraying Yates and holding him at gunpoint until police arrived, the sources said.
The officer was treated at Lincoln Hospital.
Yates was charged with assault.
