The wily raccoon who outwitted two elite NYPD cops on Tuesday didn’t press its luck Wednesday, staying safely perched in a tree 30 feet above a Brooklyn street.

And who could blame the cautious critter after his narrow escape from two Emergency Service Unit cops, who tried in vain to capture the masked marauder after it got stuck in a store’s retractable metal door.

A crowd gathered during the lunchtime rescue attempt — and was clearly pulling for the slippery rascal, cheering every time it eluded the hapless cops’ clutches.

On Wednesday, passers-by were envious.

“I wish I could lounge all day and not work, like the raccoon,” said Emily Rogers, 44, a fortune- teller from Brooklyn
