Dozens of defendants have filed motions seeking to have their felony cases thrown out because of potentially tainted evidence from Nassau County’s now-shuttered crime lab, officials said yesterday.

The 42 defendants, five of whom have already been convicted, have been charged with a range of offenses, mostly for drunken driving and drugs.

A spokesman for DA Kathleen Rice said last night: “We . . . are more than capable of handling the small number of motions that have been filed, which we will review on a case-by-case basis.”
