Critic accepts 9/11 offer
A 9/11 first responder who had consistently ripped the city’s settlement proposals for sick workers has agreed to accept the latest offer.
Kenny Specht, an FDNY lieutenant on 9/11 who has since developed thyroid cancer, said he changed his mind after some of his ideas were incorporated into the latest bid.
The city’s new offer would pay $712 million to about 10,000 plaintiffs.
Ninety-five percent of the plaintiffs have to agree by Nov. 8 for the deal to be official
