Several thousand union loyalists gathered in front of City Hall yesterday in a show of solidarity for public employees in Wisconsin.

“We’re all cheeseheads today,” said one sign, amid a sea of pro-union placards, where a crowd of labor groups roared and chanted for more than two hours.

Demonstrators said they feared for collective bargaining if Wisconsin’s governor succeeds in ramming through legislation cutting state worker pay and benefits.
