NORTHPORT, N.Y. — Authorities are looking for the person who stole a GPS from a Long Island police official’s vehicle.

A Suffolk County police spokesman says Commissioner Richard Dormer reported the crime on March 17.

Someone smashed a window of his county-owned SUV and grabbed the GPS. At the time, the vehicle was parked in the driveway of Dormer’s Northport home.

The theft is being handled as a misdemeanor. The department values the GPS at around $300, and the window at less than $250.
