City Councilmember Lew Fidler got some help from a pair of idol hands on Election Day. “American Idol” finalist Sanjaya Malakar hit the campaign trail Tuesday in what might be the most improbably political pairing of the year, handing out Fidler’s palm cards since 8 a.m. outside the American Legion Post on Avenue N and East 56th Street, in the heart of the contested 46th District. In a testy race, Fidler beat challenger Republican Gene Berardelli.
