Some heartbroken patients and neighbors of St. Vincent’s Hospital can’t understand why the doomed Greenwich Village institution can’t be resuscitated under ObamaCare.

“It’s a vital resource for the community,” said James Surak, 49. “You would think that, with the recent health-care reforms, there would be more funding to keep them open.”

Surak said he’d been going to an outpatient-treatment clinic there for 15 years and was worried about where he’d go if the place closes, which seems likely.

On Wednesday, Gov. Paterson announced that the hospital had failed to find a financial partner to keep it open.

“This is a primary facility with a fair share of patients. Where will they all go?” said neighborhood resident George Annopolis, 27.
