Gov. Cuomo is not a straphanger — he said he hasn’t set foot in a subway since becoming the state’s chief executive.
“The last time has been before I’ve been governor,.” Cuomo said, when asked the last time he rode the rails.
Cuomo usually travels to and from Albany, his Westchester home and the city with his state trooper security detail. But he emphasized he’s a backer of mass transit.
“Our subway service, our bus service is a tremendous asset to the city and state,” he said following a press conference in Battery Park City.
“It works extraordinarily well. It’s a tremendous investment.”
“We can always make it safer. We can make it faster. We can always make it cleaner. But it’s a great service.”
