Gov. Cuomo said Monday that he would consider measures to protect police and help families of slain cops as the city mourns the two cops assassinated Saturday.
Cuomo and state lawmakers will weigh proposals to improve pension benefits for cops’ widows and retrofit police vehicles with bulletproof glass when the Legislature convenes next month.
“The time for that is not now. That’s after we take a deep breath and calm down,” he said Monday outside the home of slain Officer Wenjian Liu in Brooklyn. “Right now, the city needs peace and the city needs healing.”
