Reports that a hit-and-run driver fatally struck a bicyclist in Queens Wednesday were false authorities said.
Contrary to earlier police accounts, the cyclist — who was pedaling near 92nd Street and 30th Avenue in Jackson Heights around 3:30 p.m — suffered a heart attack and crashed his bike, police said. He was never hit by a car.
First responders found the victim lying bloodied in the road. The man, who officials said appeared to be in his 40s, was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital but could not be saved.
His identity is being withheld pending family notification of his death.
