The suspect pictured above stole cash and a dozen boxes of cigars from an East New York bodega, authorities said. The prowler slipped beneath a metal roll-down gate outside Malik Deli and Grocery at Elton Street and Pitkin Avenue at about 3 a.m. Monday, cops said. He then helped himself to 12 boxes of cigars and about $100 cash, cops said.
A thief broke into a car and swiped a credit card in Flatbush, then went on a video-game spending spree, cops said. The joystick jerk slipped into the parked vehicle at Avenue J and East 32nd street at 6:50 a.m. on April 7 and pocketed the owner’s wallet, police said. At about 10:15 a.m., three men walked into the GameStop on Flatbush Avenue near Hillel Place and used the victim’s credit card to buy $1,306 in gaming merchandise, according to law-enforcement authorities.
Manhattan
A suspect attacked and robbed a woman in her Upper West Side apartment building, cops said. Surveillance video shows the man trailing the 23-year-old victim into the vestibule of her West End Avenue building at about 5:15 a.m. on April 10, and fiddling with his cellphone while waiting for her to unlock the door. In the lobby, he struck her over the head and fled with her purse. She was not seriously injured.
A suspect robbed an Upper West Side bank Friday afternoon, according to law-enforcement authorities. Police said the crook approached a teller at the Chase branch on Columbus Avenue near West 67th Street just before 4:25 p.m. and demanded money. The employee forked over an unspecified sum and the bandit dashed off. Cops said the thief didn’t display a weapon.
Staten Island
An arrest has been made in the fatal shooting of a woman at an Old Town motel, officials said. Derekson Lett, 26, was charged with murder for his alleged role in the April 4 slaying of Michele Hernandez-Vasquez, 21, according to police. Lett was with a man who got into an argument with the victim at the Cosmopolitan Motel on Hylan Boulevard near Parkinson Avenue, cops said. Lett’s pal allegedly put a gun to the woman’s head at 3:20 a.m., and then a pimp emerged from the bathroom and struck one of the men in the head with a bottle, sources said. Lett then grabbed a gun and shot the woman in the head, cops said. Hernandez-Vsquez was rushed to Staten Island University North Hospital, where she died the next day.
