A team of teen thieves snatched a woman’s cellphone aboard a subway train passing through Tremont, police said Saturday. The 23-year-old victim was riding a northbound D train at around 11:30 a.m. May 7, when one of the hoods ripped her iPhone 6 from her hand as they were rolling into the 174th-175th Street station, cops said. Surveillance footage shows these three youths, all approximately 16 years old, running along the platform shortly after the theft. One of the teens stands about 5-foot-6 and has wavy hair; the second is about 5-foot-3 and has a close-cropped, Afro-style haircut, and the third teen stands about 6 feet tall, has short hair, and wore a dark jersey with the white number 23 on the front.
Two gun-toting robbers forced their way into a man’s South Bronx apartment, authorities said Saturday. When the 49-year-old victim answered a knock on his door at around 9:30 a.m. on May 28, the thugs pushed their way into the unit and held the man at gunpoint, police said. The two grabbed the victim’s wallet, PlayStation, watch and necklaces, and sped off in a white Chevy TrailBlazer.
Brooklyn
Two prowlers stole a bicycle from a Coney Island home, authorities said on Saturday. The two, in their late teens or early 20s, forced their way into the residence’s garage at around 8:30 p.m. on May 27, and hauled out the Cannondale Quick bike, cops said.
Queens
Investigators on Saturday released a surveillance image of a suspect in an Elmhurst shooting that put two people in the hospital. A gunman opened fire on 43rd Avenue near 91st Place at around 12:10 a.m. on May 24, according to cops. Police said a 17-year-old woman caught a round in the left leg, while a 25-year-old man was clipped on his leg by a bullet fragment. Both victims were treated at area hospitals and released. The suspect was wearing a black hoodie with white lettering across the front, white jeans and white sneakers.
A woman fought off a thug who tried to steal her purse at a pizza joint in St. Albans, authorities said Saturday. The suspect grabbed the bag of the 23-year-old victim in the Little Caesars on Merrick Boulevard near 127th Avenue at around 8:45 p.m. on May 13, cops said, but he fled empty-handed when she put up a fight. The suspect is believed to be in his 40s, and stands about 6-foot-1 with a large build.
