Two armed men got away with $1,000 in cash after mugging a 48-year-old woman in Morris Heights, police sources said. The suspects pulled a gun on the woman on West 176th Street and Grand Avenue on Sept. 29 at about 5:30 p.m., cops said. They demanded money and she handed it over before the muggers fled in a white Honda Accord, authorities said. One suspect had a beard and was last seen wearing a blue sweater and black and gray sweatpants. The other suspect was wearing a black hooded sweater, camouflage pants and black sneakers. The suspects were caught on surveillance video at an adjacent property.
Police have released a photo of a man wanted for a fatal shooting in Fordham Heights. Kadeem Carty, 22, is suspected of killing David Hooks, 24, on Sept. 20 during a dispute on East 194th Street and Briggs Avenue around 3 p.m., cops said. Police found Hook lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the torso and rushed him to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he later died. Carty is described as about 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds.
A thug beat up a 23-year-old man and tried to rob him in Soundview, police said. The attacker walked up to his victim on White Plains Road near Gleason Avenue on Sept. 28 at about 6 p.m. and repeatedly punched him in the face, cops said. The suspect went through the victim’s pockets, but left empty-handed, cops said. The victim suffered a cut lip, but refused medical attention, cops said.
A man was found dead Monday in his Foxhurst home, authorities said. The 61-year-old victim was discovered lying on the floor of his Union Avenue apartment when cops stopped by to do a wellness check around 10:30 a.m., police said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and did not appear to have any outward signs of trauma, police said. The city Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Brooklyn
Police are looking for a clerk who stabbed a 23-year-old man in a Williamsburg deli. The suspect got into an argument with the victim inside the North 6th Street shop near Kent Avenue on Aug. 6 at about 3:40 a.m., cops said. When the fight turned physical, the worker whipped out a knife and stabbed the victim in the stomach, cops said. It is not immediately clear what sparked the dispute, cops said. The suspect is approximately 5-foot-8 and 140 pounds.
Manhattan
Two suspects are wanted for a string of thefts across Manhattan, authorities said. The crooks first struck Aug. 24 when they broke into a 59-year-old man’s Chelsea apartment on West 24th Street around 11:30 a.m. and removed a bag containing the victim’s ID, Social Security card and $87 in cash, cops said. Later that afternoon, they entered the Brooklyn Roasting Company a block away on West 23rd Street and stole property from several employee lockers, police said. A little while later, they walked into CLA Cleaners on West 36th Street and stole a 35-year-old man’s wallet containing credit cards and cash. The thieves struck again Sept. 9, when they entered the Frederick Loewe Theater at NYU on West Fourth Street in Greenwich Village and stole a 28-year-old woman’s handbag containing a cellphone and credit cards from the back of a chair. The suspects also entered an Express clothing store on West 33rd Street in Midtown around 5 p.m. Sept. 15 and stole a wallet from a woman’s handbag before using the credit cards to make unauthorized purchases. About an hour later, the men walked into Julie Schubert Casting on West 38th Street and stole a 25-year-old woman’s iPhone 5S and MacBook laptop from inside her desk.
