A female suspect attacked a 26-year-old woman onboard a southbound A train between the Howard Beach and Broad Channel stations, police said. The victim was chatting on her cellphone at about 1:45 a.m. on March 28 when the suspect for unknown reasons began assaulting her, cops said. The assailant punched the victim in the face and pulled her hair, then kicked and stomped on the stunned woman’s purse. The victim suffered bruises but did not require hospitalization. The suspect was described as dark-skinned and was last seen wearing a gray and white shirt, blue jeans and work boots.
Staten Island
A suspect stole cash and smokes from a deli in Elm Park, cops said. He broke into Bayonne Deli and Grill on Morningstar Avenue just before 3 a.m. Wednesday and made off with $1,500 and two cartons of cigarettes, according to police.
Manhattan
An Upper West Side shelter resident assaulted and slashed his roommate Thursday morning, authorities said. Amid an argument at the Skyway Men’s Shelter on West 83rd Street, Mike Oshinowo, 32, smashed a glass bottle over the roommate’s head and slashed the victim with a razor blade, leaving him with a deep cut under the right eye, cops said. Oshinowo was arrested several blocks away on charges of assault, investigators said. The victim was treated at Roosevelt Hospital.
The Bronx
A man flashed a teen girl onboard a subway train in Eastchester, police said. The suspect boarded a northbound 5 train at Baychester Avenue and exposed himself to a 17-year-old girl at about 7 a.m. on March 9, and the victim immediately fled the train, investigators said. The man was seen on surveillance video sporting a black and white winter cap, a dark jacket, jeans, sunglasses, a single blue latex glove on his right hand, and a yellow plastic bag wrapped around his head. Cops describe the suspect as in his late 40s, about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds.
Brooklyn
Police arrested an amateur boxer and actor who knocked out and critically injured his girlfriend at their Bedford-Stuyvesant apartment, authorities said. Cops busted Josh Luteran, 30, at an Upper West Side hostel Thursday in the near-fatal beating that occurred Tuesday at 1 a.m., investigators said. The attack stemmed from an argument over money, sources said. The victim was listed in critical condition at Methodist Hospital. Luteran was awaiting arraignment Thursday evening.
A man was fatally stabbed at an East New York group home for the mentally ill during a fight with a fellow resident over loud music, authorities said. Camryn Ariyun, 21, had been arguing with his next-door neighbor about the volume of the music coming from a room at the Institute for Community Living on Livonia Avenue. Ariyun went over to complain about the noise, and the suspect, 21-year-old Miguel Cordona, pulled out a folding knife and stabbed him in the torso. The victim was rushed to Brookdale Hospital, where he died. Cordona was charged with manslaughter and possession of a weapon, police said.
Suspects robbed a Williamsburg department store, authorities said. They entered the V.I.M. Department Store on Varet Street at 5 p.m. on March 27, made a beeline to the sneaker department and started stuffing boxes of shoes into large laundry bags, according to police. A 26-year-old store employee tried to stop them from leaving, but the men roughed him up and fled.
