The daughter of the construction worker killed by a gunman who missed his intended target in Coney Island remembered her mom Tuesday as a “sweet, loving, kind, caring person.”

Minnie Scott, 30, told The Post that her brother called with the devastating news that their 53-year-old mother, Dorothy Dixon, was gunned down Monday on the first day of work at the construction site.

“I picked up the phone and he’s like, ‘Mommy got shot! She’s in the hospital.’ I said, ‘No she didn’t. I just spoke to her.’ He was like, ‘No, we on our way to the hospital right now,'” said Scott, a home health aide.

In her last conversation with her mother, Scott said, the two discussed their meal plans.

“She’s from South Carolina. So she was telling me, ‘I’m going to make pork chops smothered in gravy.’ She was like, ‘You took the pork chops out?’

“And I was like, ‘Yeah.’ Then she was like, ‘Don’t forget to get an onion.’ And I’m like, ‘OK,’ and then I fell asleep.”

Scott, who lived with her mother and two daughters, said she is feeling “numb” — and that her family, including five siblings, is in shock, grappling with “hurt, anger and sadness.”

As for the gunman, she said: “I just hope they find them soon and justice is served because my mom didn’t deserve that at all.”

Scott said she would like her mother, who had 12 grandkids, to be remembered “as a sweet, loving, kind, caring person because that’s exactly who she was.

“If she wasn’t, I wouldn’t say it. She was well-respected by everyone,” she added.

Dixon was separated from her husband, Johnny Dixon, who was traveling to New York from Virginia to be with the family, Scott said.

The shooter was driving an SUV at about 11:45 a.m. Monday when he pulled over on West 33rd Street between Neptune and Bayview avenues and got into an argument with another man, cops said Monday.

He opened fire at the man, but missed him and hit Dixon and another hardhat, police said.

Dixon, who was shot in the chest, was pronounced dead at Coney Island Hospital. The second construction worker, a 47-year-old man, was taken to Lutheran Hospital in stable condition.
