Mayor de Blasio held a celebratory rally in Foley Square on Wednesday for the unions that supported his affordable-housing plan, a day after the City Council passed two sweeping bills to produce thousands of low-cost apartment units.
Among those de Blasio thanked was his wife, Chirlane McCray.
“Whenever I needed a little extra push or a little extra inspiration, it was right there in bed next to me,” he said to some hoots. “I know this is a family program — I didn’t mean to make it too racy there,” he added. “Just keeping it real, people.”
The invited groups, including AARP and the Hotel Trades Council, formed a nonprofit earlier this year that publicly touted Hizzoner’s plan.
Part of that group’s financing came from de Blasio’s now-shut Campaign for One New York, which had been criticized as a mayoral slush fund.
