Mayor Bill de Blasio, here manning first base, drove in two runs on a two-base error in the annual softball game Thursday night between the Mayor’s Office and City Council, helping his administration win a rematch 13-12.
“This is a team that worked hard for weeks, got ready and played hard against a noble opponent,” he told reporters after his ballsy performance at Richmond County Bank Ballpark, home of the Staten Island Yankees.
The game was tied in the bottom of the 7th and went into extra innings — though de Blasio had already left the game by then.
The mayor’s team lost last year 17-13.
