Mayor Bill de Blasio said Thursday that the Big Apple is continuing to hit back against the coronavirus, as the city reported that hospitalizations and those in intensive care units for the suspected bug remain down.

“Today we have a very good day. We don’t have a perfect day, but a very good day,” de Blasio told reporters of the daily indicators during a press briefing.

Patients in ICUs across city-run hospitals dropped from 734 on Monday to 705 on Tuesday, while the number of people admitted to Big Apple hospitals for suspected coronavirus dipped from 136 on Monday to 129 on Tuesday, according to city data.

The percentage of people tested who are positive for coronavirus also ticked down from 23 percent on Monday to 22 percent on Tuesday.

However, the city data showed that the percentage of people testing positive in the city’s public health lab increased from 29 percent on Monday to 36 percent on Tuesday.

“This is again the toughest measure in many ways,” de Blasio said, adding that it was an “overall good day” and “overall moving in the right direction.”

“I want to get to those days when we hit all the notes and keep hitting them,” said Hizzoner as he noted that social distancing practices are working.

The mayor continued to push back against large gatherings despite the downward trend of the daily indicators.

“We’ve been at this for two months – let’s get real,” de Blasio said. “Anyone who thinks about planning a large gathering or facilitating a large gathering or participates in a large gathering is really taking a chance with their own health and everybody else’s health.”

De Blasio said “certainly” when it comes to gatherings of 100 people or more, “There’s just nothing to discuss. You’re going to get fined and if you resist you’re going to get arrested.”

Hizzoner also said gatherings of a few dozen are not acceptable either.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo previously issued a ban on nonessential gatherings of any size last month.
