Mayor de Blasio threw a big bone to his pals in the yellow-cab biz by postponing a taxi-medallion auction that had been planned for next year. Five-hundred were slated to go up for bid in a competitive market.

The news, presented as part of the mayor’s budget presentation at City Hall, will be a short-term boon to an industry that has been battered by app-based taxi services like Uber.

But some hack advocates are skeptical of the move.

Medallions, which had sold for more than $1 million in 2013, are now going for about $800,000.

“What’s been happening has been very detrimental to not just the industry, but for the city as a whole,” said Ethan Gerber, executive director of the Greater New York Taxi Association.

De Blasio spokesman Amy Spitalnick described the new timetable as “much more realistic.”
