Just because he cautioned his son to be “very careful” in encounters with cops doesn’t mean he doesn’t respect police, Mayor de Blasio said on “The View” Tuesday.

The mayor said he had a conversation with son Dante at age 11 or 12.

“We had to start saying to him something that’s really difficult for a parent to express,” de Blasio said. “The police are there to protect you. You have to respect the police . . . and yet there could be a misunderstanding because there’s been a history in this country.”
